Sounds like UEFA have told both clubs they've acted like childish cunts and made them shake hands and apologise, like a weary parent.

As it's become patently clear that we desperately need Carvalho or a similar player, I hope this is a move toward opening talks.

They must now more than ever realise they need to spend money or we're going down. Maybe a loan with a view to buying IF we don't get relegated? That way he gets his move and some shop window, Sporting will definitely be able to sell him to someone, and we get the player we want.

I sometimes suspect stumbling around with trousers around ankles is Sullivan’s preferred method of negotiating hospitality at his love mansion. That’s how he got Levy to throw his hat into the OS ring back when us West Ham fans and Harringey council needed nudging in the right direction.

Re: West Ham United Statement: Sporting Lisbon
What a shambles this has been. For the sake of a few more million we could have got Carvalho in pre-season and maybe, just maybe, he would have inspired the rest of the gonads in our team to pull their socks up.

Now, we're scrapping in a relegation battle, offer very little to attract some of the mediocre Prem players let alone International stars and as a result of our actions, have had to issue statements like this, making us look like an incompetent club to do business with.

But still...they're a few million better off than they would have been for buying him

Re: West Ham United Statement: Sporting Lisbon
If this was a proper old-fashioned farce, half the cast would be stumbling around with their trousers around their ankles by now.

And an old-fashioned audience would be pissing themselves with laughter.

*remains straight-faced*

This doesn’t mean we’re going to get Carvalho, just we can do business now. There were one or two others of theirs we were considering. Was one of them a right back?

I’d love it if were WC, of course. He would be a massive step up just where we need it.

The translation to the Portuguese statement Josh, reads much the same Sullivan's so both clubs have obviously lined up a deal for Carvalho....

Institutional relations with West Ham United will resume
West Ham and Sporting Clube de Portugal acknowledge that there has been a breach of communication between the two, based on contacts between representatives of the two Clubs regarding a possible transfer of William Carvalho, and that this was the cause of a misunderstanding.

Subsequently, the Clubs have maintained positive contacts and the matter is now resolved. On this basis, the institutional relations will be resumed and there will be no barriers between the two Clubs regarding possible future negotiations or possible cooperation between the two Institutions.

Sounds like this is part of the requests from Sporting in order to do a deal.

These guys have massive egos so wouldn't surprise me if its a big form of one-upmanship.

Positive we could be getting our holding midfielder.

21 points from our next seven PL games and progress in the Cups is probably all we need to make him want to come...

So this basically means we will go back in with another derisory offer for Carvalho in January.

Even if it was not a derisory offer I don't think he'd give us a look at the mo in our current predicament

I take it that Sporting Lisbon will not take their complaint, of our alleged illegal approaches to Carvalho, to UEFA.
